The 1991 Telugu movie Kshana Kshanam (moment to moment) by Ram Gopal Varma makes it to the list of my memorable movies for A2Z.

This movie belongs to comedy-drama-chase genre. Strap in for a delightful ride, right from the get go.

Before Ram Gopal Varma made awful movies like RGV ki Aag and such, he did make some very good ones. Kshana Kshanam is one of them.

Sridevi as you all know, acted in so many Telugu and Tamil movies before making it big in the Hindi movie industry. Even after she shifted base to Mumbai, she was always a favourite with her Telugu fans. This movie came after a long gap to the Telugu audience.  She was already a big name in the Hindi heartland by then.

Her co-star in this movie is Venkatesh, also called Victory Venkatesh, a very popular hero. Apart from these two, this movie also has Paresh Rawal.

This is a story of a normal, working, very lazy but honest girl who finds herself being chased by cut-throat villains led by Paresh for some unknown reason. She finds help in a thief Venkatesh.

Sridevi and Venkatesh find themselves in a jungle with Paresh Rawal behind them and police chasing both the sets!

The comic timing of Sridevi is a delight to watch. Her dialogue delivery, her expressions and the whole body language as the bewildered girl is too good. In almost the entire film, she and Venkatesh have not changed their costumes, except near the climax.

Paresh Rawal as the murderous villain who also thinks he is a great singer is hilarious. The scene where he attempts to sing and play the piano and trying to make his henchmen recognize the song had me laughing so hard!

Only thing jarring in this whole setup is ill-placed songs that simply ruin the pace of the movie. One or two may have been quite popular too.

Here are a few scenes:

If you find time, and if you do not understand Telugu, get subtitles and do watch this gem if only for Sridevi. I do not want to give away the story. It will take away from the experience.

Wikipedia tells me that Ram Gopal Varma did make a hindi version of it called Daud but I have no idea about it.

Kshana Kshanam is a great movie, best watched with friends and popcorn.

The A2Z challenge 2019 is going to be all the movies that have left an impact on me someway or the other. Some have made me think. Some that I like a lot, some that I really hated. But all of them have left a memory behind which makes the movie more special than the rest. They may not be all classics or iconic but they are close to my heart.
