Oxford dictionary gives the following definition of Miracle:

An extraordinary and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore attributed to a divine agency.

Personally for me, life in itself is a miracle. I am spellbound by so many things around me. I am not saying this just for the sake of telling something nice, I genuinely feel that this entire universe is a miracle.

For many days now, I am writing a series on Astronomy. You will find all the posts under the heading “Starlit Sky” in my homepage. I hope to complete it soon. If you have time, do read the series.

As I am reading and researching more for my series, I am learning more and more about the world we live in. The more I learn, the more I am convinced this world is a miracle.

Let me explain.

The universe is an enormously huge place with all the billions of galaxies. The galaxy that the Earth is in, is just one of those average, neither-big-nor-small one called Milkyway. Milkyway has billions of really huge stars. Our Sun, who is our sole source of energy is just a tiny, average star situated at one corner of the galaxy. Among all the planets that Sun has, our dear Earth is just a teeny-weeny one going around the Sun.

In the big scheme of things, the Milkyway is a dot in terms of the galaxies, the Sun is a dot among all stars of the Milkyway and the Earth is just a dot among all planets.

And where does it leave us? We are less than a speck of dust in this universe.

But, it is a miracle that, among all these billions of cosmic elements, the Sun is just the right size to give just the right amount of energy to the just the right sized Earth placed at just the right distance from the Sun for life to happen.

Another great miracle that fascinates me is the amount of knowledge that humans have gleaned about the universe without travelling beyond the moon!

So, what is a miracle? The universe or human brain?

There are two trees in front of my house, they flower only in February and March. One gets covered by pink flowers and the other is covered with yellow flowers without a leaf in sight. It is a sight to behold. Come mid-March, all the flowers drop off and the trees is back to normal.

Who taught it months, or seasons?

For me even that is a miracle!
