She clutched her stomach as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. She could not run anymore, the stitch in her side was getting worse. But she wouldn’t dare stop. She ran on into the night. She did not know where she was headed, She had to get away from those monsters.
She ran into an open gate. It was dark inside. Dark looming shapes were intimidating. She hesitated but there was no time. They might catch her! She hid behind one of the large stones there. She sat on the ground and pulled up her knees to her chest and tried to catch her breadth without making any noise.
The fact that the monsters were her friends made it all worse. She had come to this weekend getaway with them. It was all supposed to be fun. It turned into this nightmare so fast that she was taken unawares. At first she was too shocked to respond, then she fought her way out and ran for her life.
She sat behind the stone the whole night, listening for footsteps. When dawn arrived, she saw that she was in a cemetery.
The dead had saved her life.
